The Old Daisy Theater on Beale Street in Memphis became the new home for the Jus’ Blues Music Awards on Thursday, August 16, 2007. Kicking it off was the patio party beginning at 1:00 pm followed by the Red Carpet entrances of an array of blues men and women including Lucky Peterson, Denise Lasalle, Sir Charles Jones, Artie “Blues Boy” White, Bobby Rush , Maxine Brown , Bobby O’Jay, James Alexander and Larry Dodson of the Barkays , Deanie Parker, William Bell and a host of other blues and Jazz legends Among those honored was the Producer of Hi Records, Willie Mitchell, Gwen McCrae and Bobby Rush special performances were done by Little Jimmy , honoring James Brown, and The longtime Elvis impersonator , Dan Vann who honored the King by sing his famed Gospel songs. Millie Jackson surprised the audience when she honored us with a jam session with Lattimore and Gwen McCrae. B.B. Queen Started off the jam session during rehearsal when she floored us all with her gifted guitar renditions that would have given the Legendary B.B. King competition. Maxine Brown’s , “All On My Mind” was as classy as the Lady herself. Theodis Ealey captured the crowd as well. The show’s emcee was Da Wolf, with his unique voice coming all the way from Dallas, Tx…Be sure and watch for next years Jus’ Blues Awards, It can only get better.
