The Queen of the blues, Denise LaSalle, is recovering at her home in Memphis, Tn., after having double knee surgery. Her surgery, on February 3, 2005 that replaces both damaged knee joints is called bilateral total knee operation. In December 2004, Ms. LaSalle and her band toured Japan and had one final gig in Mobile, Alabama in Jaurary 2005, before deciding on the operation. LaSalle actually started having problems with her knees about four or five years ago. Keeping up with a busy performance schedule, she kept putting off doing anything about it even though her doctor had more than once recommended surgery. One day she asked him: ''When will I know it's time?'' His reply: ''Whenever you get tired of the pain.'' Because her recovery might have been jepordised, Ms. LaSalle's doctor suggested that she not attend the funeral of her brother, Tyrone who passed away earlier this month in Muskegon, Michigan. The Chittlin Circuit would like to express our deepest symphony for her loss and we hope for a very fast and complete recovery. |
