			<title>Gospel Fest 2008</title>
			<link>http://www.chittlincircuit.com/dev/content/view/214/</link>
			<description>Gospel Fest 2008
It’s really not about quartet, contemporary, traditional, Christian rap, Holy hip-hop, or any of the other many sub-divisions that have evolved under the Gospel/Christian music umbrella. It’s about Jesus! &quot;This year’s theme is Bridging Communities, Breaking Boundaries and Building New Foundations. That’s the message of this year’s event as it will offer something for the whole family,” says Atlanta’s Gospel Fest 2008’s Producer/Artist Riki Brooks. Every kind of artist and talent will be represented from singers, producers, praise &amp; dance teams, comedians and choirs. When we say something for everyone – we mean EVERYONE! For the children - bubble gum contest, face painting, holla hoop contest and more. For the artists – radio and magazine companies providing information and exposure. And for ANYBODY and EVERYBODY – the legendary Dorothy Norwood; a roundtable discussion moderated by De Etta West, Director of Ministry Partnership; Bishop Jesse Harris, Founder/Publisher of The Gospel Newspaper and of course, Chittlin’ Circuit Magazine. Come join us. You don’t want to miss it. Click Here to get the 4-1-1 on Gospel Fest 2008 as Taffany Shipp interviews Ms. Riki Brooks.

			<title>In Memory of Steve Ladd</title>
			<link>http://www.chittlincircuit.com/dev/content/view/213/</link>
			<description>
A Tribute In Memory of Steve Ladd
(Bernie Henderson Smith, Jr.)
October 31, 1944-July 20, 2008
Special Thanks to Kaye Fullylove KKDA-AM Dallas, Texas

Radio Veteran/Legend Steve Ladd has passed away. Steve Ladd crossed over to the other side of life on July 20, 2008 at approximately 1:46 pm at he age of 63.

The Real Dr. as he was affectionately called by his listeners on KKDA-AM (730 AM) at Service Broadcasting in Dallas, Texas back in the 80's and 90's was currently an On Air Personality at America's Original Black Radio Station-The Legendary WDIA (1070 AM) in Memphis, Tennessee from 4:30 pm-6 pm on &quot;What's On Your Mind Line&quot; Monday-Friday and &quot;All Blues Saturday&quot; shows from 6:00 a.m.-10:00 a.m.

His voice was the epitome of an Original Old School Radio Disc Jockey that did not sound scripted, (in other words he did not sound like anyone else), he had a distinctive voice and style that put him in a class all by himself.

Steve became one of my Radio Mentors back in 1976 when we both worked at K104-FM (KKDA's Second Radio Station) in it's infancy days back then, and he welcomed me aboard as he was proud of me-his home girl from Sherman, Texas. Steve Ladd was born in Denison, Texas on October 31, 1944 (10 miles from Sherman), he was a proud Denisonian.
