Betty Wright
|
One of the most talented and versatile artist in the music business today, without a doubt, is Ms. Betty Wright. Betty is a business woman as well as an entertainer and she will tell you she gets it all from her mother.
The elder Mrs. Wright formed a gospel group with her children (seven of them) called The Echoes of Joy. By the time Betty was 15 she recorded her first album which included the hit single "Girls Can't Do What Guys Can Do". From there Betty's career has been non stop success.
The Chittlin Circuit was able to catch up with Ms. Wright and slow her down long enough to have a one on one conversation. What better way to learn the facts than right from the source.

Line Dancing At The Gay Hawk C'C editor Harold Conover and Willie Mitchell | The Chittlin Circuit was invited to Memphis, Tn., the Tuesday following the Jackson Music Awards by the CEO of the Jus' Blues Music Foundation Mr. Charles Mitchell. The Chittlin Circuit was given a prelimenary look at the venu where the Jus' Blues Music Awrads are going to be held, the Daisy Theater on Beale Street. The Jus' Blues management team needed to make several stops and we were allowed to tag along. Our first stop was at the Daisy Theater and we met with the owner Randel Catron. We then headed to the North end of Memphis to the offices of radio power house, WDIA. We then stopped by Royal Studios where we spent a little time with the world famous producer Willie Mitchell and his son Boo. Willie Mitchell is the person who produced All of Al Green's famous songs in the '70's and '80's. Their latest project, "Mashaa" can be heard on Chittlin Circuit Radio at any time just by requesting one of her songs. The final stop of the day was at the historic Gay Hawk lounge. You don't have to worry about the price of drinks there, you can bring your own! Our final stop was with Larry Chambers the long time promotional person for Ecko Records And as always the Chittlin Circuit took a ton of pictures which you can view in our Photo Gallery.

Just ask Queenie and the Blue Cats. Last Sunday May 13, 2007 at the MAMA (Madison Area Music Awards) the much requested group was awarded the Best Blues Album of the Year with their CD Live at Milo's Place.
"It took all of us by suprise", Queenie, who's real name is Susan, told
the Chittlin Circuit. "I thought everyone would prefer orginial songs
over the standard blues songs that we did on our CD."

Two shows are never alike because you never know who will show up. A week or so ago we interviewed a young lady (Micki Murphy) who performed at the Jam Session, the Chittlin Circuit attended. It just so happens that she is now on tour in China and will be returning sometime in August. The Chittlin Circuit was able to catch up with the host of the famous Monday Night Jam Session, Mr. Huck Daniels. Huck explains how the Jam Sessions got started and where they are going next. Who has been attending and who just might show up at any given Monday night. As always, you can listen to the complete interview with Mr. Huck Daniels just by clicking the GREEN Playbutton
