Sir Charles Jones - “Southern Soul Royalty” PDF Print E-mail

Versatile. One word that truly describes Sir Charles Jones.
Whether you’re talking about the fans who love his music, the varying distinct styles of his music, the different musical instruments he has mastered, or the many talents he has developed within the music industry -- Versatile. This self taught writer, arranger,
producer and engineer has embraced a genuine passion for music.
Similar to other thriving artists, Sir Charles began his career in the church in Birmingham, Alabama. His father sang with a gospel group called Christian All Stars and his mother has been a minister for thirteen years, so it was almost inevitable that this young musician would become an entertainer. Sir Charles attributes his early success to the attention his high school band director, James Merriweather gave him. “He really brought the music out of me and kept me out of trouble. I learned a lot from him,” says Sir Charles.
Sir Charles has worked under the guidance of Producer Senator Jones (Hep’ Me Records) and the Soul and Blues singer Marvin Sease who is best known for his 1992 hit, “Candy Licker.” With the help of Greg King, formerly a bassist for Sease, King and Sir Charles released their first CD titled “Sir Charles Jones.” That album contained the popular
single, “Better Call Jody” which did very well in the United Kingdom. Since then Sir Charles has released three other projects including “Love Machine” which contained the songs ‘For Better or Worse,’ ‘Just Can’t Let Go’ and ‘Is There Anybody Lonely?
And now, his fourth CD titled “Thank You For Holding On” is on the independent label Jumpin Records (Atlanta, Georgia). “I’m more versatile in my style now and it makes me happy to know that I can appeal to young and old generations. When you come to my shows you might see a 19 year old sitting next to an 80 year old. I have fans and supporters of all ages,” comments Sir Charles. And those fans keep coming back for more because Sir Charles keeps delivering! His collaboration with Business Manager Icon Joe Douglas, who also manages Maze featuring Frankie Beverly, is proving to be the right mix for everyone. “Thank You For Holding On” introduces Southern Soul lovers to the “new sound of Southern Soul.” Sir Charles calls it “gumbo funk” -- a fusion of R&B, Jazz, Hip Hop, Blues, Rhythm and Soul. With his wide range of vocal ability, a touch of smooth rhythm melodic melodies and the cry of love, pain, happiness, fun-times and the sincerity of commitment. Sir Charles sings what he knows which means he is well familiar with many trials and victories that life has to offer. From the mere fatal accident that brought national attention and many false releases of his own material, his own life experiences led him to make changes in his life and his career. Sir Charles brings “a sense of pride” to the Southern Soul industry. The new album features two duets, one with singer / crooner Glenn Jones entitled “Call on Me” and the other with sultry vocalist LaTocha Scott from X-scape.
