By Eldridge 'Big Cat' Tolefree
I
nternational superstar and Bay Area blues legend, Sugar Pie DeSanto barely escaped her burning North Oakland home late Wednesday night (October 25, 2006). The recording artist's husband of twenty seven plus years wasn't as lucky. Jesse Davis, Desanto's husband was the only fatality in last Wednesday nights three alarm blaze that injured three firefighters, and sent seventeen neighbors to Red Cross shelters. Fire Department spokeswoman Capt. Melinda Drayton, reported the cause of the fire is still under investigation and unknown this time. According to Suga Pie, her husband was attempting to extinguish the flames with a blanket, when she yelled to him; "come on lets go."; After running out of her burning home, the singer noticed he was nowhere to be found. A resident rush to their aid, but was unable to enter the smoked filled home do to the intense heat and toxic, thick smoke that made it impossible to breath let alone see anything.

Kenne' Wayne - Gentleman of Southern Soul PDF Print E-mail
As the Executive Publisher of the Chittlin' Circuit Magazine, I've had the opportunity to chit-chat, interview and mingle with many entertainers. And quite honestly, the various entertainers are memorable for many different reasons. Some reasons are complimentary and others not so complimentary.

Chittlin' Circuit recently set down with Kenne' Wayne and had an "A & B Conversation" with him. And I must say, that from the very first time that I met Kenne’ he presented himself in a way that sets him apart from some of the other folk in the business. Yes, he possesses the obvious ingredients of success: 'real' vocal talent, a beautiful sound, and skills as an engineer, producer, songwriter and arranger. But here’s the kicker – Kenne’ adds an 'inviting, engaging personality, topped of with ‘pure’ professionalism. The Chittlin’ Circuit refers to Kenne as the “Gentleman of Southern Soul.”

Theodis Ealey - Update PDF Print E-mail
Good news again everyone. The Chittlin Circuit spoke with Brother Theodis this evening and he is sounding real good, all things considered. He is up and about and even fixing his own meals.
Theodis will be recovering for the next several weeks until his first show in Anderson, Al., October 21, 2006 and the big show in Savanna, Ga., November 4, 2006.
Theodis has a new CD that will be released this coming October so, be on the look out for it. You know, you can tell when a artist really loves his craft. Theodis told me (Chittlin Circuit) that he had two more songs to complete before the CD would be finished. Not wanting to delay the CD, Theodis stopped by the studio, ON THE WAY TO THE HOSPITAL, recorded the final two songs, then proceeded to have his operation! Now that's dedication.
Many of you have asked where can you send Theodis a "Get Well" card? Mr. Ealey gave me the answer. You can send cards and letters to the following address:

Theodis Ealey
P.O. Box 831507
Stone Mountain, Ga. 30083

So let's let the "Godfather" of Southern Soul know we are wishing him well, send those cards and letters in now!
