Six months ago Blues Great Kenny Neal was told by his doctor he has to rest and get medical treatment for his illness. Kenny posted a message on his site stating that he would be putting down his guitar for one year.
You know you can never keep a good man down. So it stands with Kenny. He has been attending a few jam sessions at a few local clubs around the Palo Alto, California area where he now resides. He is also in the process of completing a Book about his life in the music business. And what stories he has to tell. You will get a good look into the contents of his book after you hear the interview we conducted Saturday March 24, 2007.

The year is 1988 and Mr. Tyrone Davis is still at the peak of his career. Music videos are becoming the "IN Thing" to do.
Yet, like many projects, this one seemed to have fallen through the cracks. Leave it up to the Chittlin Circuit to continue bringing you, our listeners and readers, the very best in Southern Soul, Blues and R&B. We have the complete 1 hour show first recorded in 1988, in our Video Archives.
We would not however, be able to bring you this Tyrone Davis program without the help of Mr. Don Samuel who just so happens to be the host of the show.

Pictured on the right is Don Sam and his wife Marilyn, 19 years after the filming of the Tyrone Davis program we are showing here. Don is currently Production Director and On Air Personality at KCOH Radio in Houston, Texas.
AND If you look closely at the band you will also see a very young Trumpet Player who's name is "Darryl Thompson". Darryl was Tyrone's road manager for well over 20 years. Stay tuned because we will be interviewing Darryl and getting the complete scoop on the legend Tyrone Davis. A picture taken of Darryl in February 2007 is on the lower left.

So sit back, relax and get ready to spend the next 55 minutes with Tyrone, The Wonder Boy Just Click Here |

Before I start this story, I want to thank Ms. Tia Carroll (Best Female Vocalist of the year 2007) and Ronnie Stewart (Director - Bay Area Blues Society) for inviting the Chittlin Circuit Magazine to this event. Not only did they roll out the RED Carpet for the artist the Chittlin Circuit walked the Welcome Carpet.
This Hall of Fame Show included such greats as "Teddy 'Blues Master' Watson, pictured above, (cousin to Johnny 'Guitar' Watson), Lenny Williams, Little Stanley, Duane Thompson, Terrible Tom Bowen and a host of other Blues singing artist. Chittlin Circuit friend Ernie Johnson was also honored with an award (R&B Male Vocalist of the Year).
The show started with a Gospel group of five ladies known as "The Stars Of Glory". If you never had the chance to testify, these ladies would surley get you in the mood.

Duane Thompson and Tia Carroll also gave toe tapping Performances. A Few of the long time Blues singers like "Terrible Tom Bowen" and Teddy 'Blues Master' Watson showed why they are still in the business.
The entire event went off with out a hitch and the crowd loved every minute of it.
As usual the Chittlin Circuit took well over 100 pictures of the event and you can view them in the Photo Gallery or just sit back and watch the Slide Show
Check out the Chittlin Circuit radio, because we will be adding alot of new music, all from the West Coast.

10,000 blues music lovers filled the Houston Reliant Arena February 3, 2007 and the Chittlin Circuit Magazine was there to cover the event.
The first of the 26 city blues tour started in Blioxi, Mississippi Friday evening, which was also a stunning success. The Saturday Houston show started off with Mr.Bobby Rush and his famous dancers. Then Latimore, Sir Charles Jones, Shirley Brown, Theodis Ealey, Bobby Bland, Mel Waiters, and Marvin Sease closed the show in a style all of his own.
Throughout the entire concert ALL of the fans spent half the time dancing near their seats. If the Blues Is Alright Tour comes anywhere near a city close to you, we recommend you get your tickets as soon as possible. If the other shows are anything like the one in Houston, you can bet it will be sold out also.
Check out the Photo Gallery for a photo tour of the Houston Concert, we have 179 pictures for you to enjoy.
