Eugene Record, founder of the legendary Chicago-based vocal group The Chi-Lites, died Friday after a long battle with cancer, the president of the group's booking agency said. He was 64. Record was the composer of many hits including The Chi-Lites classic, "Have You Seen Her?" and "Oh Girl," among others.

Malaco Records started from booking small bands in the early 60's to becoming the best known Label in the Southern Soul and Blues markets.

Jackson Music Awards - The Winner List

This past Sunday and Monday (July 17th and 18th), the annual Jackson Music awards were held in Jackson Mississippi. A well received event to say the least. The winners of each of the categories are listed below. The Chittlin Circuit attended and we took over 100 pictures and conducted several interviews. Jackson Music Awards - In Grand Style

From soul-stirring renditions and humor to creative expressions of thanks, Monday night's 31st annual Jackson Music Awards moved a crowd of about 1,000.

Performers relived the glory days of the legendary Memphis label Stax Records and its Mississippi connection with the theme "A Stroll Down Memory Lane." The event shone with label luminaries such as The Dramatics, J. Blackfoot, Frederick Knight, The Temprees and Eddie Floyd
